​Hot Springs North Carolina!

Lacy and I are marking two years at my wonderful home in Hot Springs North Carolina. We are all overdue for a gathering and celebration.

All we ask is that you have been VACCINATED. SERIOUSLY. Parents, please recognize that unvaccinated children might be at risk.

We have 2.3 acres on River Road. Just 1.2 miles downstream from the bridge over The French Broad River. We are hosting Friday June 25, Saturday June 26 and Sunday June 27, 2021. Come for any or all of the weekend.

Here is what we are planning.
FRIDAY: You are on your own for meals, you can use our grill.
SATURDAY: You are on your on for meals until the Potluck meal on the grounds about 6PM . We are providing Pulled Pork, Grilled Chicken and boiled Sweet Corn. Lacy is bringing in a smoker on a trailer and a cousin from Texas to smoke pork butts. We have a huge charcoal grill  for grilling chicken. I will be doing the sweet corn boil. This is a POTLUCK. Please bring a dish to share Saturday .
Again, all other meals are on your own, but we won't let you starve.
(Do plan ahead, it is a 25 minute drive to a decent grocery store here. Otherwise it is Dollar General folks! However, there is no shortage of beer in Hot Springs. We even have a brew pub now!)

SUNDAY AFTERNOON: Ice-cream and Birthday Cake (we all had a birthday since we were last together!)

Besides eating, what to do?

First of all REJOICE! We are going to be so glad to see you. 

You are welcome to pitch a tent/car camp and spend part or all of the weekend here as your base camp.  There are rental cabins and AirB&Bs too. https://www.hotspringsnc.org/lodging/


You can hike a section of the AT (it comes right down our main street) We will have information on other short hikes.

We are not too far from Max Patch: National Forests in North Carolina - Max Patch (usda.gov)
Take a pleasant walk along the French Broad River. Did I mention I live on RIVER ROAD?

Bring or borrow a canoe, kayak or inner tube and put in at the bridge, float past my house and get picked up at Murray's Branch: Murray Branch Picnic Area, Pisgah National Forest » Carolina Outdoors Guide. (about a 3 hour float, I have arranged for shuttle service. They will be working for your tips)

I am counting the musicians among you to bring your instruments. It has been too long!

NOTE: We are 1.2 miles from the bridge. Coming from Weaverville through Marshall on US 25/70 N, Silver Mine Road is on the right JUST BEFORE the bridge over the French Broad River. Then it takes a hard left and right. That puts you on River Road. In a mile you will see a beautiful red barn in a curve on your left. My driveway is the third one on the right. My mailbox looks like a barn. This is a shared driveway. Take the hard right up the lane.  Look for parking directions before driving up the hill.

We are about 45 minutes north northwest of Asheville North Carolina.
Every road to Hot Springs is a twisty.
